“Promitheas launches its new program: ”Health Culture and Literacy for Equal Access”
Athens, July 18, 2025 – Access to health begins with understanding. With this central message, Promitheas announces the launch of its new program “Health Culture and Literacy for Equal Access”, which aims to strengthen health literacy and combat inequalities in access to healthcare.
In an era where information is abundant but not always understandable, many of our fellow citizens struggle to interpret basic medical instructions, understand their test results, or properly follow a treatment plan. These difficulties are even greater for people living in vulnerable conditions, such as individuals who use substances, prisoners, migrants, Roma communities, and people with low educational or socio-economic status.
In response to this need, Promitheas has designed a series of short educational video podcasts that explain critical health issues in simple and accessible language, such as viral hepatitis B, C and D, chronic liver diseases, hepatocellular carcinoma, Primary Biliary Cholangitis, the importance of vaccination, and the understanding of diagnostic tests. The content is structured to avoid clinical jargon and instead emphasize examples, visuals, and lived experiences that help viewers understand the information and connect it to their own reality.
Health literacy is not a privilege. It is a fundamental prerequisite for every person to be able to protect their health, claim care, make informed decisions, and live with dignity. Promitheas has consistently invested in prevention, empowerment, and equality. With this new program, it seeks to shape a new health culture that is accessible to all, without exclusions.
