The information campaign “Did you take the test?”, aimed to raise public awareness about hepatitis C and promote prevention through free Rapid Test tests. The campaign targeted both the general population and vulnerable social groups, with particular emphasis on large urban centres where the need for information and access to health services is high.

In 2015, two information videos were produced as part of the campaign: a social message aired on TV and aimed at the general public and an interactive video adapted to specific population groups. In addition, 70,000 leaflets were distributed and a mobile unit was operated which visited 9 cities, offering free screening and information on viral hepatitis, with a focus on hepatitis C (HCV). The unit also provided psychological support to stakeholders and linking positive individuals to specialist hepatology centres, thus reinforcing a holistic approach to prevention and care.

The campaign led to 5,000 free tests being carried out, which enabled early diagnosis of people who might otherwise not have had access to relevant services. In addition, data was collected on difficulties in accessing the health system, which was used for statistical analysis and is planned to be used in a future published study. Through this intervention, Promitheas contributed substantially to addressing the social stigma that accompanies hepatitis C and enhanced awareness, prevention and social inclusion.

This action is an example of effective mobilisation of resources and human resources to defend public health and patients’ rights. Watch the video  HERE
