Making Noise for a Silent Disease

Campaign aimed to inform and raise public awareness about Hepatitis C
The "Making Noise for a Silent Disease" campaign aimed to inform and raise public awareness about Hepatitis C, a disease that often progresses without obvious symptoms. At the same time, it aimed to promote Primary Health Care, the operation of the Health Centres and the motivation for early diagnosis, especially among people born between 1945 and 1980.

The dynamic information campaign had a variety of activities:

  • Participation of four popular personalities.
  • TV spot for wide promotion of the message (HERE).
  • Projection on a metro train, increasing the visibility of the campaign to thousands of citizens.
  • Online communication actions through social media and websites.
  • Organisation of information events in central locations in Athens (Kato Patissia, Victoria Square, Vathis Square) and Thessaloniki.
  • Distribution of information material by the 2nd T.O.M.Y. and Promitheas officials.
  • Provision of information on free examination and access to the relevant health structures.

This campaign contributed to:

  • Strengthening awareness of Hepatitis C and the need for early screening.
  • Active public participation in the activities and dissemination of the message through media and social networks.
  • Raising public awareness of a “silent” but important disease that can be effectively treated with early diagnosis.

The information campaign was implemented in cooperation between the Hellenic Society for the Study of Liver (H.S.H.) and Promitheas, under the auspices of the Ministry of Health:
