Media Training on Noncommunicable Diseases
- Project Duration OCT 2023

More than forty health journalists from Balkan countries—Albania, Serbia, North Macedonia, Bosnia, Montenegro, Cyprus, and Greece—participated in a three-day training seminar held in Athens, which concluded on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. The seminar focused on non-communicable diseases and was organized by the World Health Organization(WHO) with the support of Bloomberg Philanthropies.
Prometheus, with its core strategic focus on addressing inequalities and bridging the gap between vulnerable populations and the health system, was a proud implementing partner of the WHO for this initiative.
On February 16, 2024, as part of the continuation of the “Media Training on Noncommunicable Diseases and Injuries” program, an online meeting was held to provide updated information and further insights from WHO experts regarding non-communicable diseases. The meeting included journalists from the Balkan countries who had participated in the in-person training in Athens in October 2023, offering an opportunity for continued networking and experience exchange.
Training and empowering health journalists is a crucial step toward highlighting critical public health issues, raising societal awareness, and promoting meaningful policy change. Prometheus remains committed to supporting initiatives that reduce health inequalities and empower healthcare professionals, aiming for a fairer and healthier future for all.
