Bodossaki Foundation

The Bodossaki Foundation is a public-benefit organization established in 1972, actively engaged in the fields of education, health, environmental protection, and the empowerment of civil society. Through funding and implementing programs, as well as managing third-party resources, the Foundation works to address social needs based on the principles of transparency and accountability.

Promitheas-Bodossaki Foundation

The Bodossaki Foundation has supported the Health Without Barriers program and the Roma and the Right to Health initiative through EEA Grants. Additionally, as part of its voluntary donations, the Foundation has funded the Pilot Program on Smoking and the Value of Healthy Nutrition and Exercise at the Special Juvenile Detention Facility in Volos.

Achievements

  • A new law was introduced to reform and modernize correctional facilities, which includes, among other provisions: 1) The issuance of a temporary Social Security Number for all inmates, facilitating access to healthcare services and the development of telemedicine within correctional institutions, 2) the establishment of a psychiatric ward for female inmates,  3) the introduction of visiting nurse contracts and the operation of dental care units in prisons.
  • In 2015 alone, more than 4,500 medical examinations were conducted through the “Checkpoint” Mobile Prevention Unit, which visited a total of 7 areas in Attica (Aspropyrgos, Megara, Koropi, Spata, Pallini, Lavrio, and Saronikos) and 10 in the regions (Orestiada, Didymoteicho, Alexandroupoli, Maroneia, Komotini, Xanthi, Topeiros, Nestos, Drama, and Karditsa).
