Vital Strategies is a global philanthropic organization working with governments, institutions, and communities across more than 60 countries to address complex public health challenges. The organization focuses on areas such as tobacco control, cardiovascular disease prevention, obesity reduction, road safety, air pollution, and maternal health.

Vital Strategies has funded the awareness campaign “Naloxone Saves Lives”, aimed at addressing the high mortality caused by opioid overdoses and highlighting the life-saving role of naloxone.

Achievements

  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, trained staff and volunteers distributed essential items—including food, water, gloves, masks, and hand sanitizer—three times a week in Athens and Thessaloniki. These efforts targeted people experiencing homelessness, people who use intravenous drugs, sex workers, and migrants. Between March and June 2021, more than 4,650 individuals were supported through the distribution of nearly 7,000 food and water packages, 250 units of protective gear, and 400 safer use kits.
